Luton First

We are privileged to be included in the teaching academy Luton First Teaching School Alliance, a new initiative involving some local schools.  The alliance is seen as a Centre of Excellence in Luton and supports other schools to become good or outstanding.

Below is the introduction from John Williams, Headteacher of Hillborough Junior School, Lead School:
LFTSA is an established cross-phase alliance of fourteen school partners, an initial teaching trainer provider and the local authority.
As the corporate name suggests, we are passionate about the attainment and achievement of the young people of Luton and indeed, throughout Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and beyond.  We believe a world class system of education is embedded in the spirit of partnership and a sharing of expertise within that family of providers.
To this end, we offer cross-phase school-to-school support packages that focus on the quality of teaching and learning, curriculum development and all aspects of leadership and management.  We look forward to working 'with' you.

1st March 2017

Sarah Gilbert, who was our Acting Deputy Head at the time, along with a colleague from a neighbouring primary school, teamed up to run an Outstanding Early Years training course.  It consists of four half-day sessions with two of those sessions taking place at Chapel Street and two at the other school.
During the first session the seven trainees, who are all reception teachers around Luton, were invited to look around our nursery.
These are the comments we received from the teachers after their walk around.
